The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Capital Area Region requires all ordination candidates and ordained clergy from other denominations, who are seeking to have their ordination recognized, must take the Disciples of Christ History and Polity course. The class is currently offered via Google Classroom and consists of an Introduction and five lessons. These lessons are: Historical Background, Christian Thought, Sacraments, Worship and Mission, and Denominational Structure.

The History and Polity online course has been designed by and is currently facilitated by the Rev. Yakelin Santos. Each one of the lessons includes a short video, readings (required and recommended) and an assessment. After reading and evaluating the assessments, the facilitator provides constructive feedback to the student. This course is designed with the student in mind, providing a maximum of six months to complete the course. Although online, the course concludes with a face-to-face meeting with Rev. Santos, either in person or via Zoom or any similar platform.

The Director of the Commission for Ministry will provide Rev. Santos with the name and email address of the person needing access to the course and she will inform the student of how to access the Google Classroom. <registration form for documentation purposes>

Because this is an individually self-paced learning experience, access to the course is on-going and does not require a special registration process outside of the initial contact with Rev. Santos.
