Continuing Education
On behalf of the Commission for Ministry, we offer our gratitude for the ministries that you lead as clergy and ministerial leaders across our Capital Area Region! Whether you are in congregational ministry, chaplaincy, working in nonprofit or advocacy settings, or continuing your ministerial studies (we know this list only represents a few of the diverse ministries of our CCCA clergy), we give thanks for the ways that you are caring for people and nurturing meaningful communities of belonging!
As the Commission for Ministry, we take seriously our role of accompanying you in the work of ministry. Part of the Commission’s responsibilities include providing continuing educational opportunities so that you can strengthen and deepen your skills of ministry.
In the Order of Ministry policy, all ordained clergy and commissioned clergy must hold standing in order to continue the authorized practice of ministry (see Order of Ministry).
Part of the criteria for clergy standing includes the practice of continuing education and professional development that includes programs of study, research, growth and renewal. All clergy must show:
A completion of continuing education (a pre-approved seminar, workshop, coursework) in the area of Clergy Ethics/Healthy Boundaries at least once every three years;
A completion of continuing education (a pre-approved seminar, workshop, coursework) in the area of Anti-Racism/Pro-Reconciliation at least once every three years;
For any questions, please contact the Regional Minister, Rev. Dr. Marcus Leathers.
