Dear CCCA Clergy:
The primary purpose of The Ministers’ Association of The Christian Church Capital Area is to provide Clergy with encouragement, continuing education and fellowship. We thank all who help make our ministry pertinent, interesting, and well-attended. Among our assumptions is that your know and understand we operate on a calendar year (January 1-December 31), elect officers biennially (usually at the Regional Assembly) and depend upon you to support us with your time, spiritual and monetary gifts, feedback for and from our ministries, and your talents.
Every minister (whether retired, serving in a parish or as non-parish clergy, ministerial student, seeking a ‘call,’ or ‘under-care’ of the Region) in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Capital Area is automatically a member of our Ministers’ Association. However, the Association is able to provide a broad range of events only if its members (or their church, if they include such items in its budget) voluntarily pay one’s annual dues. The Association agreed several years ago to allocate its funds in the following manner:
Description Allocation
The Flinn Fund: supports continuing education of Disciple ministers and students 10%
Continuing Education Fund: supports continuing education of members to help reach a goal 10%
of 2.0 CEU unites per year
CCCA Regional Administrative Cost 10%
The Clergy Crisis and Stress Fund: funded by dues plus other designated gifts, helps our colleagues 20%
helps our colleagues in the region in times when extra dollars are sorely needed. This fund is kept
with the Church Extension and the interest comes back to the region for our use in times of ministerial
crisis/stress
The Pension Fund: receives money toward the 13th check for retired ministers, widows and 40%
missionaries living on modest funds
Ministers’ Association Operating Fund. From this, we provide planning funds 10%
for retreats, workshops, mailings from the Association, our Annual Meetings and other events planned on
an ‘as-needed’ basis
