REFRESH
Refresh is Camp & Conference counselor training for the Christian Church Capital Area. We invite all camp staff and counselors to join together for a time of worship, conversation, communion, questions, and food. It'll be fun and informative. We'll brush up on some new ideas for relating to youth and young adults. We'll find out what new rules and guidelines await us this year. We'll even eat delicious bbq.
Refresh will happen at Rockville Christian Church in Rockville, MD on Saturday, May 24, 9-1:00 PM.
Refresh is a Camp & Conference Counselor training event on May 24, 2008, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM, for all Camp & Conference directors, counselors, staff, and supporters. With summer on its way and the camp season underway, it's time to get refreshed. You'll gather with new and old counselors to learn new skills, hear cool ideas, stay up to date on camp changes, worship together, and have fun. And of course, there will be plenty of food!
During our worship time, Rev. Bill Chaney will bring the keynote, geared toward helping us find new ways to "Make the Bible Real". We'll have workshops on important topics like camp safety as well as thought-provoking ideas like the postmodern life cycle. At the close of our time together, we'll have delicious barbecue, a thank you from the Camp & Conference commission for your hard work!
All Camp & Conference directors and counselors are encouraged to attend.
If you have never counseled a camp before and are curious about it, you are welcome to come too!

The 2008 Women's Spring Retreat at Bethany Beach, DE is open to all Disciples Women in the Capital Area, including high school age and young adult women. The retreat begins on Friday May 30 at 2 PM and extends through Sunday, June 1.
The speaker for Women's Spring Retreat 2008 will be Sheila Spencer from Disciple Home Missions.

All Capital Area Clergy who have never had sexual boundary training are encouraged to take it this spring. You will get CEU credit, your insurance company will love you, and you will be made aware of some of the traps into which we too easily fall. If you have not had a refresher course in five years, you need to take it. If you have questions, on your need for the course please email the regional office at mail@cccadisciples.org.
The Commission for Ministry in partnership with the Ministerial Association are offering Sexual Boundary Training twice over the next several months. The first is to be held Saturday, June 7th from 9 am to 1 pm at Asbury Village in Gaithersburg, MD. Cost is $10 and we do have scholarships so gas will not overwhelm you. We need your registration by June 1.
We will also offer the event this fall. It will probably be a weekday, daytime event. Attached is a PDF flyer with driving directions and other information.
